Leona Jean Svoboda was born on September 22, 1934, in Jefferson County, Nebraska to Henry William and Dora (Weiss) Schellhorn and passed away on September 10, 2018, in Seward at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 19 days.

Leona grew up in Seward where she attended Concordia High School and later received her teaching certificate from Concordia. She was united in marriage to Werner Mueller on September 1, 1957 at St. John Lutheran Church. Werner passed away on July 18, 1974 in Seward. On October 14, 1978 Leona was united in marriage to Edward Svoboda at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. They would have celebrated 40 years of marriage in October. Leona enjoyed spending her time cooking, baking and feeding those that would come to their home. She also loved spending as much time as possible with her family.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Werner Mueller; sons, Randy Mueller and Edward Svoboda, Jr.; one sister and five brothers.

Leona is survived by her husband, Edward Svoboda; three children, Robert and wife Sarah Svoboda, Annette and husband Jim Boeche, Rosemary and husband Jim Harnley; two daughters-in-laws, Cheryl Mueller and Diane Svoboda; brother, Richard and wife Thelma Schellhorn; dear friend, Eleanor Bohaty; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
