Obituary

LeRoy Ellsworth Shaw was born on June 7, 1930, in Wessington, SD, to Ernest Edward and Iva (Glidden) Shaw and passed away on August 1, 2018, in Stromsburg, NE, at the age of 88 years, 1 month and 25 days.

LeRoy grew up in Walthill, NE, where he attended and graduated high school. He enlisted into the United States Air Force on November 19, 1951 and was honorably discharged on October 24, 1955. He was united in marriage to Gertrude (Gertie) Uhing on April 25, 1956 in Omaha. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Jeff, Ken and Randy. LeRoy attended Southeast Community College where he studied diesel mechanics. He worked at International Harvester in York and Central City. He owned Shaw's Repair Shop in Polk, NE for many years. Later the couple moved to Kansas City where he worked for Trans World Airlines for 10 years. The couple raised pigs and tried their hand at raising llamas, he always loved having a horse as well. LeRoy enjoyed collecting toy tractors. He was an avid diesel mechanic and enjoyed telling stories. He could remember many details on tractors that he repaired. In his younger years LeRoy enjoyed hunting and fishing. He and Gertie also loved square dancing where they were nicknamed "Night Owls".

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gertie in 2017; five brothers, Ernest Jr., Harold, Harry, Jordan and Gary; three sisters, Sheila, Mary Ann and Doris .

Leroy is survived by his three sons, Jeff Shaw, Lincoln, Ken Shaw and wife Sandy, Seward, Randy Shaw and wife Jill, Crete; grandchildren, Christina and husband Fred Williams, Brock and wife Esther Shaw, Brett Shaw and wife Andrea von Kampen, Tyler and wife Katy Shaw, Tristan Shaw and Taryn Shaw; two great grandchildren, Collins Shaw and Jones Shaw.
