Leslie Dale Eckhard, son of Francis William and Velma "Leta" (Collier) Eckhard, was born April 2, 1926 in Milford, Nebraska and passed away on March 23, 2015 at the age of 88 years, 11 months, and 22 days. He graduated from Seward High School in 1944 and entered into the U.S. Navy serving until the end of WWII. Les attended Coyne Electrical Vocational School in Chicago. He returned to Nebraska working as an electrician in Seward, Lincoln and advanced into management in electrical construction, becoming a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) local 265. Les was united in marriage to Dorothy Dey on August 14, 1953 in Seward, Nebraska. To this union three children were born, James Alan, Jean Ann, and Richard Dale. His construction work took the family to many locations until he and Dorothy retired and made their home in Shreveport, Louisiana. Les was a Mason and an active member of El Karubah Shrine. Les was preceded in death by his parents, Francis "Tiger" and Leta Eckhard and his daughter-in-law, Robin Eckhard. Les is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Shreveport, Louisiana; his children and their spouses, James Eckhard, Jean Ann and Russ Wheelock, Richard and Michelle Eckhard; his nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; his sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Carl Page, Lincoln; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lou Ann and Floyd Abele, Lincoln; nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
