Leslie Herman Rolfsmeier was born August 12, 1924 in Seward, Nebraska to Herman Frederick and Clara Sophia Margaret (Ficken) Rolfsmeier and passed away on July 18, 2008 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 11 months, 6 days. He grew up on his parent's farm along with his brother, Eldon Lee. Les attended Immanuel Lutheran School at Middle Creek. He was confirmed in 1938 and graduated from Seward High School in 1942. He attended Concordia College and then worked with his family in operating a dairy, doing custom harvesting, and later in the earthmoving construction business which Les was involved with for 24 years. Some of the major projects were the dike around Seward, the first Concordia football fields, St. John ballfields and the Red Willow Dam project near McCook. On October 30, 1948, Les was united in marriage to Dorothy Emma Mann at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Les and Dorothy were the parents of three sons, Steven, Richard and Gary. In later years, Les and Dorothy were private dealers for the Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner Company for 20 years. Leslie was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward, Lutheran Layman's League, Seward Kiwanis, Pheasants Forever and was active with the Seward Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Ambassadors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in August of 2007; his parents, Herman and Clara Rolfsmeier and his brother Eldon Rolfsmeier. Leslie is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Vanessa Rolfsmeier of Brainerd, MN, Richard and JoAnn Rolfsmeier of Seward, Gary and Kathee Rolfsmeier of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Leslie. |
