Lester Edward Ruether was born August 24, 1918 near Garland, Nebraska to Edward Harry and Julia Clara (Grady) Ruether. Lester passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 2 months, 23 days. Lester was baptized on May 20, 1951 at the First United Methodist Church in Seward. He was raised on a farm near Seward and attended School District No. 11. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and then returned to Seward to farm. Lester was united in marriage to Selma Elise Caroline Sieck on February 12, 1960 in Seward. He was confirmed on October 30, 1961 at St. John Lutheran Church - Seward. They farmed near Seward and retired in 1987. Lester was a life member of Seward VFW Post #4755. Lester is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Julia Ruether; his wife, Selma Ruether in 1993; sister, Cloe Offret and brother, George Ruether. Lester is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, June and Leo Adams of Beaver Crossing; sisters-in-law, Levona Ruether of Seward and Frieda Sieck of Lincoln; nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews and a host of friends.
