Obituary

Dr. Linda Jean Miers was born on December 11, 1948, in Seward, Nebraska to Willard Royal and Wanda Fern (Erford) Miers and passed away on August 22, 2018, in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 11 days.

Linda was raised in Seward where she attended school and graduated from Seward High School with the Class of 1967. She then attended the University of Nebraska College of Nursing where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, (BSN) in 1971. Linda attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham where she received a Master of Science in Nursing, (MSN) in 1980 and later her Doctor of Science in Nursing, (DSN) in 1993. Linda was a Registered Nurse/Associate Professor of Nursing for 41 years working at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, University of Alabama at Birmingham and later at Creighton University. Linda was a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses, American Association of Critical Care Nurses Certification Corporation, American Nurses Association, Alabama and Nebraska Nurses Associations, Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society and Phi Mu Fraternity. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Leonard and Hazel (Duffy) Miers, Elton J. and Lila Olive (Smith) Erford/Iversen; two uncles, Dale C. Miers and Norman Cross; aunt, Della Marie (Hans) Miers; and her cousin, Shannon (Pedigo)Vaninetti.

Linda is survived by two brothers, Buster Lee and wife Patricia Mae (Soflin) Miers, Omaha, and Steven Elton Miers, Lincoln; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Lee and wife Monica (Schmeeckle) Miers, Aurora, CO, Rebecca (Miers) and husband Robert Samuelson, Omaha, Tyler Blake Miers, Lincoln, Ashley (Miers) and husband John LaRosa, Los Angeles, CA; uncle, Dick Leslie Miers, Seward; three aunts, Lucille Hazel Cross, Seward, Mildred (Hodde) Miers, Seward and Wilma Jean (Erford) Pegigo, Everett, WA; great nieces and nephews, Makayla Samuelson, Matthew Samuelson, Bridger Miers and Grayson Miers; several cousins and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Linda.
