Lois Jean Steinheider Genthe of Syracuse, Nebraska was born on April 25, 1929, in Seward, Nebraska to Dean and Thelma (Thomas) Batchelder and passed away on August 5, 2022, in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 93 years, 3 months and 11 days.

Lois grew up on a farm near Goehner where she attended school through the 10 ^th grade. She then graduated from Seward High School with the Class of 1947. After graduating she worked at the Seward County Courthouse until she married Robert "Bob" Steinheider in 1950. Besides helping Bob with bookkeeping at the grain elevators in Goehner and Seward and raising 3 children, she worked many years at Fabric Fair in Seward. After Bob's passing in 1979, Lois met and married Bill Genthe and moved to Syracuse, Nebraska where they enjoyed playing lots of golf. Bill passed in 2001. It was at a class reunion where she reunited with her high school sweetheart, Don Balderson, and enjoyed many happy years spending winters in Sacramento, CA, and summers in Syracuse, until Don's death in 2017. Lois was an excellent seamstress. She enjoyed family camping trips, hot weather, traveling, and went on many golfing trips with friends.

Lois is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Bob; second husband, Bill; special friend, Don; brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Ginny Batchelder, and daughter-in-law, Barb (Green) Steinheider.

She is survived by her children, David (Helen) Steinheider of Lincoln, Carol (Jane) Marion of Manchester, CT, and Linda (Les) Jacox of Garland; four grandchildren, Chris (Jen) Steinheider, Jessa (Akim Tran) Steinheider, Ramon (Ella) Marion, Kyna Marion; and six great-grandchildren, Eloise Steinheider, Wesley, Hudson, and Schuyler Tran, Xavier and Piper Marion. She is also survived by her Genthe stepsons and their families. Lois lived independently, with the help of some wonderful friends, in her own home until her passing. She was always a barefoot farm girl in her heart, and we love and miss her.
