Lois Lenore Hodde was born August 26, 1924, in rural Milford, NE; to Harry Irl and Cora Estella (Blacker) Fosler and passed away in Seward, NE on April 7, 2014, at the age of 89 years, 7 months, 12 days. She was baptized on April 4, 1926 at the First United Methodist Church in Seward, NE. She was raised on the family farm near Milford and attended rural school through the 8th grade. Lois then attended Seward High School, graduating in 1941. She taught at Seward County District #85 before attending Lincoln School of Commerce. Upon graduation, she worked at Woodman Accident Insurance Company in Lincoln and then in the office of the Seward County Treasurer. She was united in marriage on May 4, 1947, to Walter Johann Heinrich Hodde in Seward, NE. One daughter, Maralee Ann was born to this union. After their marriage, Lois kept books for the farm as well as Hodde Construction Company. Lois and Walt enjoyed the "farm life" for 53 years until Walt's death in 2000. She stayed on the farm until 2003, when she moved into Seward. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, reading, playing cards, and attending the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lois was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Seward and the Blue Valley Quilt Guild; she also enjoyed participating in the quilting circle at Faith Lutheran. She was a 4-H member as a youth as well as a 4-H leader later in life. Lois also taught pre-confirmation classes at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Milford and was a member of the J Jolly Jane's Extension Club. Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Walter Hodde; parents, Harry Irl and Cora Estella Fosler; sisters, Merle Joyce Fosler and Thelma Irene McLarty and brothers, Chester Irl Fosler and Harry Dale Fosler. She is survived by her daughter and spouse, Maralee and John Meyer, Milford, NE; grandchildren and spouses, Darin W. and Melissa A. Meyer, Milford, NE; and Kelli A. and Todd J. Klopfenstein, Seward, NE; great-grandchildren, Kailey Ann Meyer, Anna Jo Klopfenstein, Cora Mae Klopfenstein, and Zane Isaac Meyer; sisters-in-law, Florence (Mrs. Chester) Fosler, Lincoln, NE; Marian (Mrs. Harry Dale) Fosler, Milford, Mildred (Hodde) Miers, Seward, and Evelyn (Hodde) Hicks, York, NE; nieces and nephews, and many friends.
