Lora Louise (Niederschmidt) Hassenplug was born March 20, 1917 near Garland, Nebraska to Herman and Emma Anna (Forke) Niederschmidt and passed away in Laurel, Nebraska on February 22, 2010 at the age of 92 years, 11 months, 2 days. Lora attended school in Seward County. On January 17, 1939 she was united in marriage to Melvin Maurice Hassenplug in Seward, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with two children, son, Maurice and daughter, Vicki who died at birth. Lora was a member of the United Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing, reading, sewing, picking up rocks on vacations, dancing, playing games with her grandchildren, and spending time with her family. Lora was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Emma Niederschmidt; her husband, Melvin Hassenplug in 1981; her son and daughter-in-law, Maurice and Joann Hassenplug; brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmer and Lillian Niederschmidt and Arnold and Jeannie Niederschmidt; brother-in-law, Tony Litty. Lora is survived by her granddaughters and their spouses, Melissa and Jim Sebek, Lincoln and Kelsie and Chris Ryan, Plainview; five great-grandchildren, Grace Sebek, Matthew Sebek, Ashley Ryan, Lauren Ryan and Morgan Ryan; her sister, Florence Litty of Seward; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Lora. |
