Loren Edward Pankoke was born October 1, 1925 in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska to Paul August and Fannie Rose (Schwaniger) Pankoke and passed away on June 30, 2010 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 8 months, 29 days. Joe was a 1943 graduate of Goehner High School in Goehner, NE. Joe was the foreman for Rolfsmeier Construction Company of Seward, a foreman/supervisor at Goodyear in Lincoln and owned the Corner Bar in Garland from 1971-1978. He was a life member of the American Motorcycle Association, Fire Chief and a longtime member of the Garland Volunteer Fire Department and the former Mayor of Garland.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Fannie Pankoke; his brother, Elgin Pankoke; an infant sister, Maxine; an infant brother; a nephew, Wayne Pankoke; grandchildren, Charity Jacobsen and Loren Alley.
Joe is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Jan (Jacobsen) and Roy Olsen of Seward; Karen (Alley) Buller of Utica, and Kathy (Pankoke) and Ron Peterson of Cortland; six grandchildren and spouses, Lisa and Brett Ward, (Brett's untimely death occurred on July 1, 2010), Scott and Rachel Jacobsen, Brooke Jacobsen, Lori Graves, Shawn Buller, Justin Vajgrt; several great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Gwen Pankoke of Beaver Crossing; sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Richard Gross of Westminster, CO; sister-in-law, Irene Pankoke of Winfield, IA; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Joe.
