Lorene Mae Thompson was born on July 20, 1926, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Wayne and Dollie (Byrd) Gray and passed away on September 10, 2018, in Seward at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 21 days. Lorene grew up in the Arkansas and Oklahoma area and she attended school in White Water, Oklahoma.
On July 15, 1946, Lorene married George Robert Thompson, Sr. and to this union six children were born. Lorene was a stay at home mom where she raised her children. The couple lived in Kansas from 1947-1954, then moved to Stanton, Nebraska. They later moved to the Coleridge, Laurel area in 1961. The family moved to Creighton, NE in 1974. In 1978 the family made their way back to Jay, Oklahoma. In 2009 Lorene moved to Seward to be closer to her daughters. She was a caregiver for many years. She enjoyed gardening and crocheting, but her main love was for her family.
Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George in 1981; daughter, Marie Acton in 2016; four brothers and two half sisters.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her daughters, Dollie Thomas, Seward, Gladys Nyhus and husband Tom, Sioux City, IA, Mary Jean Thompson, Seward; sons, George R. Thompson and wife Sheryl, Lake City, MI, Timothy T. Thompson and wife Debra, Osmond, NE; half sister, Mary Robinson; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 7 great, great-grandchildren.
