Obituary

Loretta Mae (Hans) Roebke was born October 24, 1937, east of Seward, Nebraska, the oldest daughter of Arnold Fred and Louise Anna (Schroeder) Hans and passed away on June 26, 2014 in Crete, Nebraska at the age of 76 years, 8 months, 2 days. Loretta was baptized at the family home; she attended District 80 in Lancaster County and was confirmed at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church near Emerald, Nebraska. Loretta attended Malcolm High School and graduated in 1955. She attended a bookkeeping course at NBC and then worked at Tiny Electric. On April 29, 1956, Loretta was united in marriage to Wayne Walter William Roebke at Zion Lutheran Church and then they resided in Seward. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Dennis, Gloria, and June. Loretta worked at Seward Dry Goods for a short time and then in 1971 began employment at Rolfsmeier Dairy Ice Cream Store, Kroeger Shoe Store, the Cone Popper and Vahl Drug. For 17 years, Loretta was a professional seamstress. In 2000, Loretta and Wayne moved to Crete, Nebraska. Loretta enjoyed sewing quilt blocks for quilt tops that were then tied and shared with World Relief projects through Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Loretta was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Seward and currently a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Crete and a life member of Seward VFW Post 4755 Auxiliary. Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Louise Hans; two sisters, Bonnie Schultz and Diana Tieken. Loretta is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Wayne Roebke of Crete; son, Dennis Roebke of Crete; daughters, Gloria Kulhanek of Kearney and June and her husband, Dean Wullenwaber of Utica; five grandchildren, Wayne Kulhanek and special friend, Jessica Ripple, Kirsty Kulhanek, Allysa Kulhanek, Jenna Wullenwaber and special friend, Damien Todd, Dakota Wullenwaber; three great-granddaughters, Kaeli, Shaeli, and Baeli; two sisters, Marlene and her husband, Larry McDonald and Betty Eggerling, all of Lincoln; brothers-in-law, Kenny Schultz of Pleasant Dale and Lynn Tieken of Seward; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Loretta.
