Lorraine Marie Jirovsky was born on December 21, 1940, in Ceresco, Nebraska to Rudolph and Gertrude (Polak) Hakel and peacefully passed away on December 13, 2024, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 22 days.
Lorraine grew up in rural Lancaster County for a portion of her childhood until her family moved to Seward. She graduated from Seward High School with the Class of 1958. Following graduation, Lorraine married the love of her life, Charles Jirovsky, on May 9, 1959, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. To this union five daughters were born: Carol, Laurie, Kathryn, Julie and Elizabeth. Over the years, Lorraine worked for numerous businesses around the Seward area including the Corner Café, a local attorney's office, Seward Motor Freight and Merle's Garden Center. She was most dedicated to working alongside her husband at Jirovsky and Feigion Construction as the bookkeeper. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In her free time, Lorraine enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles and birdwatching, especially cardinals. She also loved to watch the cooking channel, Husker volleyball and Wheel of Fortune. Lorraine was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Jirovsky; grandsons, Timothy and Thomas Burns, Nicholas Pleshek; sister, Elaine Kodad.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her daughters and their spouses, Carol (Richard) Hain, Laurie (Bobby) Olson, Kathryn (Barry) Pleshek, Julie (Len) Rotherham and Elizabeth Peery; grandchildren and their spouses, Benjamin (Maellyn) Hain, Karen (Jason) Mayo, Natalie Hain, Audrey (Matthew) Walford, Charles (Anne) Burns, Sara Burns, Nathan (Sierra) Pleshek, Joshua (Kaylie) Campbell, Alexander (Amanda) Rotherham, Shea (Joshua) Adams, Camden Peery, Michael Peery, Kyle Peery; and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Patricia) Hakel; sister, Charleen (Bruce) Ebner; sister-in-law, Bernadette Prochaska.
