Lorraine Fern (Mattes) Ritchie was born June 24, 1935 in Iowa City, Iowa to George and Blanche (Muth) Mattes and passed away on July 27, 2014 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 79 years, 1 month, and 3 days. Lorraine attended school in Shelton and was a 1951 graduate of Shelton High School. On May 29, 1954, Lorraine was united in marriage to Arden G. Ritchie in Papillion, Nebraska. To this union four children were born, Terry, David, James and Susan. Lorraine was employed with Funk Seeds, south of Goehner for several years; then began a 15 year career as the custodian at the Goehner Elementary School and spent a few years with Pop N Post of Goehner. Lorraine was an active member of Friedens United Church of Christ and Women's Fellowship in Goehner and served as the church secretary for a time. Her church membership and fellowship was a very important part of her life. She was a member of Quilter's Guild, craft club and extension club. Lorraine loved listening to and watching all Nebraska sports. Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, George and Blanche Mattes; her husband, Arden Ritchie in 2004 and son, James Ritchie in 2012; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Pearl Mattes and Roger and Mick Mattes. Survivors cherishing Lorraine's memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Susan Ritchie, Riverdale and David and Doris Ritchie, Seward; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Gordon Adams, Eagle, CO; eight grandchildren, T. J. Ritchie, Amanda Slocum, Samantha Ritchie, Ron Woita and Dani Lotspeich, Garry and Olivia Woita, Robert Woita, Shelton Adams, Cooper Adams; ten great-grandchildren, Sam, Caitlin, Loren, Kaleb, Francie, Fia, Laiel, Johnnie, Blake, and Ruby; sister, Marilyn Rodgers, Muskegon, MI; nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of friends.
