Louise Meta Baack was born on July 26, 1913 on a farm near Staplehurst, NE to John and Clara (Hegeholz) Baack and passed away on June 11, 2012 in Seward, NE at the age of 98 years, 10 months and 16 days. Louise was baptized on August 10, 1913 at Zion Lutheran Church and confirmed on March 28, 1926 also at Zion Lutheran Church. Louise grew up in Marysville where she attended Zion Lutheran School through the 8th grade. She then attended and graduated from Seward High School in the class of 1930. Louise began her teaching career right out of high school where she taught in a local country school before teaching in Ulysses and Seward. In 1944, she took a trip with a friend to Honolulu, Hawaii. She began teaching the 5th grade at Iolani School in Honolulu, a private boys' school, until she retired in 1980 after 36 years. Louise never stopped learning, which was evident when she graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1960. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church and St. John Ladies Aid. She was an avid bridge player and loved to travel around the world. Louise was an honorary sorority member of Pi Lambda Theta and also an active member of Epsilon chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. Louise was a very optimistic person, she believed the glass was always half full. Louise is survived by her two sisters, Loretta Niemann of Seward, NE; and Aloha Zimmer of Friend, NE; nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or school.
