IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lowell L.
Myers
April 27, 1945 – May 2, 2025
Lowell L. Myers was born on April 27, 1945, in Plainview, Nebraska to Milton and Lucille (Clough) Myers and passed away on May 2, 2025, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 80 years and 5 days.
Lowell grew up in Creighton, Nebraska where he attended country school until the 9th grade. He then attended and graduated from Creighton High School with the Class of 1963. Following high school, he graduated from Oak Hills Bible Institute in Bemidji, Minnesota. He then attended and graduated from William Jennings Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee, with a degree in history. On September 25, 1968, Lowell was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. On May 31, 1969, Lowell was united in marriage to Nan George in Creighton, Nebraska. The couple moved to Korea and lived there until Lowell was discharged on July 21, 1970. The couple then returned to Creighton where Lowell helped with a church camp. In October of 1970, Lowell received a call from the Ponca Evangelical Free Church to fill in as their pastor, where he ended up serving for 11 years. In January of 1982, the family moved to Seward, Nebraska where he faithfully served as the Pastor at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church until his retirement in 2016.
Lowell had a deep love for the outdoors and found joy in activities like biking, running, hiking, mowing the lawn, hunting, and fishing. A devoted sports fan, he rarely missed a chance to watch or listen to games, especially those involving his children and grandchildren, or his favorite Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was an avid reader with a strong interest in history and a lifelong student of the Bible. Music was another of Lowell's passions — he loved singing in the church choir and appreciated the power of song in worship.
Lowell was also deeply committed to serving others. He was a passionate blood donor, generously giving many gallons throughout his lifetime. He was an active member of several organizations, including the Seward V.F.W. Post #4755, Seward American Legion Post #33, the Seward Ministerial Association, and the Midwest District of the Evangelical Free Church and for many years, he faithfully served on the Seward 4th of July Committee.
Above all, Lowell was devoted to his family. He took great pride in supporting his children and grandchildren, attending their events with unwavering enthusiasm and love and a stop watch in his hand.
Lowell is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marjorie Bass.
Survivors cherishing his memory include his wife of 55 years, Nan Myers, Seward; children and their spouses, Nathan (Heather) Myers, Seward, Becky (Jeff) Hackbart, Omaha; grandchildren, Mackenzie (Zach) Miller, Jensyn Myers, Ben (Payton Frahm) Myers, Riley Hackbart, Chloe Hackbart; great-granddaughters, Luca, Molly, Daphne Miller; brother, Byron (Linda) Myers, Norfolk; sisters, Connie (Ralph) Schuler, Caledonia, MO; Phyllis (Cal) Michaelson, Lino Lakes, MN; brother-in-law, Lee (Sharon) George, Eden Prairie, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
