Loyd R. Critel was born to Alvin and Elizabeth (Grigsby) Critel on January 11, 1948 in York, Nebraska and passes away unexpectedly on April 23, 2012 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 12 days. Loyd was raised on a farm near McCool Junction, Nebraska where he graduated from high school. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War for 2 years. Loyd married Carol Louise Snoke on June 21, 1968 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Upon his honorable discharge the couple moved back to Nebraska where he attended Southeast Community College in Milford for Diesel Mechanics. Loyd worked at Lincoln Public Schools where he became a supervisor in the transportation department. He retired in July of 2011. Loyd enjoyed many things including camping, canoeing, car swaps, tractors, auctions of all kinds and going to thrashing shows. He loved his children and grandchildren very much. He was a noble man who wanted to make sure everyone was treated fairly and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Loyd is survived by his children, Jennifer and husband Tracy Gerdes of Pleasant Dale, NE; Jason Critel and wife Marie of Hickman, NE; three grandchildren, Jesse and Allie Gerdes and Coral Critel, two sisters Evelyn Polacek and husband Delmar of Surprise, NE; and Barbara Haydel and husband Mickey of Silver Lake, Washington, three brothers-in-law, Eldon Snoke and wife Ruth of Humboldt, NE; Melvin Snoke of Wamego, KS; and Raymond Snoke and wife Annie of Tulsa, OK. Loyd was preceded in death by his wife Carol in September of 2011, parents, 2 brothers Boyd and Larry Critel and sister Ardyce Burton. Memorial may be made to the Critel family.
