Lucille Eloise (Swanson) Daehling was born December 13, 1926 near Staplehurst, NE to Lawrence Martin and Winnie Augusta (Johansen) Swanson and died March 30, 2010 in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 17 days. She was baptized on January 30, 1927 and confirmed on April 6, 1941 at the Danish Lutheran Church in Staplehurst, Nebraska. Growing up she attended elementary school at the District 4 school and was a 1943 graduate of Seward High School. Upon earning her certificate from Concordia College she taught school in rural Seward County for 10 years. Lucille spent 19 years with Centennial Schools as a substitute teacher and teacher aide until her retirement in 1987. She was united in marriage to Murvil O. Daehling on November 7, 1948 at the Marysville Lutheran Church in Staplehurst, Nebraska. Together they lived in Lincoln until moving to Utica in 1950. Lucille was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and a past volunteer with Meals on Wheels. Lucille enjoyed her time spent with her children and grandchildren, as well as, time being involved with the grand pals program at St. Paul Lutheran School. She also enjoyed baking and doing various crafts. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Murvil O. Daehling and a brother-in-law, Richard Johnson. Left to Cherish her memory is her son, Steve Daehling of Lincoln; daughters and son-in-law, Stephanie and Mark Heiden of Sioux Falls, SD, Shari Daehling of Lincoln; grandchildren, Doug and Scott Daehling, Erica Heiden and her friend, Toni Wilson, Erin, and her husband Jesse Hartig, Jared Heiden, Travis Judds, Miranda Judds; great grandchildren, Mercades Down, Garrett, Madison and Hannah Daehling, Austyn and Ashyr Heiden, Eli Judds; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Alvin Herrold, Jr. of Seward and Romelle Johnson of Lincoln; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a time shared with Lucille.
