Lucille Natalie Fiala was born near Bee, Nebraska on May 1, 1929, the daughter of Mike and Agnes (Makovicka) Hotovy and passed away at St. Joseph's Villa in David City, Nebraska on January 31, 2016 at the age of 86 years, 8 months, 30 days. Lucille was a graduate of Seward High School and taught in a country school northeast of Staplehurst. She was united in marriage to Joseph James Fiala, Jr. on January 13, 1948 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Bee, Nebraska. Their marriage was blessed with eight children: Carmelita, Suzanne, Gregory, Theresa, Barbara, Mary Beth, Robert and Corinne.
Lucille was a devoted farmer's wife, mother, and grandmother. She and Joe were members of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ulysses all of their married life. She was a member of the Altar Society and served as funeral dinner coordinator for many years, she was also a member of the First Catholic Slavic Ladies Association #181. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, baking, collecting salt and pepper shakers, and spending time with family.
Lucille is survived by her husband, Joseph Fiala, Ulysses; eight children and spouses: Carmelita Fiala of David City, Suzanne (Larry) Kratochvil of Ulysses, and their children: Angela (Jeremy Coufal and children Michael, Isabel, Isaiah, Sarah, and Daniel), Taresa, Sr. Mary Markita, Melissa, and Matthew (Melissa and children Kobee, Tanner, and Dakota); Gregory (Peggy) Fiala of David City, and their children Meghan (Nathan Jantzi and children Gianna and Callen), Justin and Kristine; Theresa (Darell) Aerts of David City, and their children, Anthony (Jesse), Andrea; Vincent, Cassandra, Jarod, Mariah, Amanda and Lanae, Barbara (Chip) Greene of Omaha, and their children, Abigail, Earl IV, Isaac and Tobias; Mary Beth (Pat) Roh of Abie, and their children, Mitchell, Nathan, Rebekah, Joshua, Travis and Elizabeth; Robert (Janette) Fiala of Ulysses, and their children, Antonia, Olivia, Sinclare, Mary, and Xavier; Corinne (Lee) Schmit of Pleasant Dale, and their children, Emily, Anna, Jakob, Katie and Paige. She is survived by one sister-in-law Marie Hotovy, nieces, and nephews. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Joe and Mary Fiala; granddaughter, Natalie Greene; sister Evelyn (Hotovy) Masek, and brothers, Raphael Hotovy and Gerald Hotovy.
