Lucille Agnes Pekarek was born July 20, 1926 near Staplehurst, Nebraska to Frank M. and Agnes S. (Vrbka) Divis and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on February 27, 2009 at the age of 82 years, 7 months, 7 days. Lucille attended country school near Staplehurst and was a 1944 graduate of Dwight Assumption High School. On October 23, 1946, Lucille was united in marriage to Raymond Joseph Pekarek at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ulysses. Their marriage was blessed with 7 children. They farmed northwest of Staplehurst until 1991 when they moved near Dwight. Lucille was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary Post 110 in Dwight, VFW Post 4755 Auxiliary in Seward and Catholic Workmen. She enjoyed playing cards, making kolaches, dancing and polka music and was a baseball fan. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Agnes Divis; her husband, Raymond Pekarek in 2002; infant grandson, Jared Pekarek; infant granddaughter, Mary Janak; and her brother-in-law, Lad Pekarek. Lucille is survived by her children and spouses, Elaine Janak and friend Jim Bartek of Dwight, George and Rose Pekarek of Staplehurst, Sally and Jim Hodge of Holdrege, Tom Pekarek and friend Mary Casement of Utica, Donald and Deb Pekarek of Malcolm, Joe and Anita Pekarek of Holdrege, Kenny and Angie Pekarek of Seward; 18 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 5 step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Pekarek of Dwight; nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Lucille. |
