IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lucille A.
Trousil
April 14, 1929 – August 22, 2025
Lucille Agnes Trousil passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at the home of her granddaughter on August 22, 2025, at the age of 96 years, 4 months, and 8 days.
She was born on April 14, 1929, on the family farm near Loma, Nebraska, one of 14 children of Joseph and Mary (Hraban) Kadavy. Lucille grew up on the farm and attended country school, later remaining at home to assist her parents.
On June 30, 1956, Lucille was united in marriage to John F. Trousil at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Loma. Together, they made their home farming southeast of Dwight, Nebraska, where they raised their two daughters, Carol and Diane. Lucille and John shared many joys in life, including polka music with John often playing the accordion and singing. As lovers of farm sales and auctions they knew how to spot treasures where others saw rust. They were avid WWE Wrestling fans and rarely missed watching a match on tv. Even after John's passing, Lucille carried on their love for WWE, tuning into every match with enthusiasm and commentary of her own. She enjoyed gardening, baking and canning. In her later years, you could often find Lucille at the nearest polka dance surrounded by the many dear friends she made. Known by name to the Mark Vyhlidal Polka Show, Lucille never missed a chance to call in a favorite song request for her family and friends. She was a longtime member of the Dwight Assumption Catholic Church, and in her charitable spirit supported many Catholic missionaries. With every hug, every visit, and every goodbye, Lucille told those around her that she loved them, firmly believing the world would be a better place with more love.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John; her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Tom Kissinger; her granddaughter, Angela Owen; her parents; and her 13 siblings.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Clark Bednar of Raymond; granddaughters, Cathi (Matthew) Cotton of Lincoln, Stephanie (Brian) McKinney and family, Lindi (Brock) Johnson and family, and Shanna Johnson and family; grandson, Tom Kissinger and family: honorary daughter, Elaine Streily numerous nieces and nephews; and her beloved cat, Tuffy.
To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and gratitude for a life well lived and dearly loved by many.
