LuWanna Naomi (Neel) Schauer Bartek was born March 21, 1937 in Burwell, Nebraska to Alvin and Martha (Guile) Neel and passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012 in Ulysses, Nebraska at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 27 days. LuWanna attended school at North Loup. On April 3, 1955 LuWanna was united in marriage to Billy Schauer and to this union four children were born, Luellen, Wayne, Steve and Loren. LuWanna moved to Lincoln in 1963 and worked for many years in food service at St. Elizabeth Hospital, the Lincoln Police Department, and the Regional Center. She also worked at North Platte College, A & W Rootbeer Drive Inn, Linden Court and in housekeeping at Madonna. Wherever LuWanna worked, she made many new friends. She was a member of the Eagles Club and Moose Lodge. She enjoyed dancing and later listening to Joseph Hall and her sons, Loren, Wayne, and Steve. On September 29, 1996 she was united in marriage to Gregory Frank Bartek in Lincoln. In 2011 they moved to Ulysses. LuWanna is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Leo Neel, her sisters, Opal Conner, Evelyn Conner, FonNetta McDermott, and Genevieve "Jean" Sebesta, and her first husband, Billy Schauer. LuWanna is survived by her husband, Greg, Ulysses; her children and their spouses, Luellen Schauer, Ulysses, Wayne Schauer, Joplin, MO, Steve and Susan Schauer, Joplin, MO and Loren and Laurie Schauer, Waverly; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde Neel, Issaquah, WA, Bill and Erma Neel, North Loup, Joseph Neel, Greeley, Dewey and Betty Neel, Ord, Michael Neel, North Loup; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
