Lyle Leslie Davis was born August 16, 1916 east of Beaver Crossing, Nebraska to John Lovell and Ora Inez (Englehaupt) Davis and passed away on October 17, 2007 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 91 years, 2 months, 1 day. Lyle attended grade school at Walnut Creek District No. 16 and was a 1933 graduate of Beaver Crossing High School. On November 22, 1938, he was united in marriage to Blanche Loretta Farmer and to this union two children were born, John William and Jeannie Ora. Blanche passed away on February 6, 1948. On June 3, 1956, Lyle was united in marriage to Doris Mae Tucker in Lincoln, Nebraska. Lyle was a lifelong resident of the Beaver Crossing area where the family farmed 3 miles southeast of town until 1987 when they moved into Beaver Crossing. In September of 2006, Lyle and Doris moved to Heartland Park in Seward. Lyle was a a member of the United Methodist Church in Beaver Crossing, the Friend Country Club and Lincoln Elks Club No. 80. Lyle was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved farming, sports, playing cards, hunting and fishing. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Ora Davis; his wife, Blanche Davis; and his daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Gary Bluhm. Lyle is survived by his wife, Doris Davis of Seward; his son and daughter-in-law, John W. and Virginia Davis of Beaver Crossing; six grandchildren and their spouses, Dean and Debi Davis of Utica, Darin and Kelly Davis of Omaha, David Davis of Plattsmouth, Jeff and Chasity Bluhm of Milford, Kyle and Jayme Bluhm of Omaha and Stacy and Greg Nuttelman of Stromsburg; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; cousins and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Lyle. |
