Lyle Wayne Gamble was born October 29, 1926 in Wayne, Nebraska to Roy Lyle and Anna Rosie (Granquist) Gamble and passed away peacefully on January 13, 2011 at his home in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 2 months, 15 days. Lyle was a graduate of Wayne High School. He served in the U.S. Army from February of 1944 through February of 1946 during World War II and served in the U.S. Air Force from June of 1950 through May of 1954 reaching the rank of U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Lyle was the former Chief of Police in Ceresco and also a former Saunders County Deputy Sheriff. Lyle joined the Seward Police Department in 1966 and served as Seward Chief of Police from 1968 through 1974. He was a former member of Kiwanis in Seward and a founding member of the Seward Kiwanis Kitones and a member of the Seward Airport Authority. Lyle was a member of the Crete Berean Church, American Legion Post No. 244 in Ceresco and V.F.W. Post No. 4755 in Seward. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Lincoln Chapter.

Lyle is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lyle and Anna Gamble; his wife, Nitha Gamble; his son, Rodney Gamble; stepson, Thomas Yeackley, grandsons, Cory Paez and Brandon Yeackley; great-granddaughter, Grace Yeackley; brothers and sisters, Kenneth Gamble, Lois Bronzynski (Lyle's twin sister), Marilyn Taylor, Darrell Lee Gamble, Bill Gamble, Janice Ellis.

Lyle is survived by his wife, Joyce Gamble of Seward; children, Ruann Gamble of Lincoln, Rachelle Gamble and significant other, Mark Haston of Omaha and Roger Gamble of Seward; stepchildren and spouses, Jackie and Dave Argue of Colorado Springs, CO, Don and Carla Yeackley, Sandy and Joe Troyer, and Sheila and Kim Eberspacher, all of Milford, John and Jan Yeackley of Colorado Springs, CO; 21 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Juanita Gamble of Elkton, VA; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Lyle.
