Marie M. (Hain) Jirovsky, widow of Bohumil "Bud" of Seward, formerly of Bee, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the age of 86 years and 6 days. Marie was born on a farm between Garland and Bee to Joseph and Theresa (Vogeltanz) Hain. She attended District #87 through 8th grade and then graduated in 1943 with honors from Assumption High School in Dwight. Marie married Bohumil on October 16, 1945 at St. Wenceslaus Church. Marie and Bud lived and farmed in the Bee area until 1967, when they moved to Bee. She worked at the Seward Memorial Hospital in the dietary department for 10 years. In 1975, Bud and Marie owned and operated their own business, Jirovsky Upholstery. She also cooked at Lou and Mary Anne's Bar. Marie was very active in the community. Most recently she was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a lifelong member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and church choir. Marie was a past president of the Bee Altar Society, Bee Village Board member, a member of the Catholic Workman, an honorary member of the St. Vincent de Paul PCCW, and a volunteer at the Seward Senior Center. Marie enjoyed crocheting, sewing, making kolaches, dumplings, rolls, Christmas bread, and quilts. When not baking or sewing, Marie enjoyed the occasional trip to the casinos with her children, playing card games with family, and coffee with her friends. Moreover, Marie enjoyed attending family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Judi; her daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Robert Schmitt, Eileen and Craig Caskey and Rosellen and Dan Policky; 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Henrietta Benes, Marie Hain, Delores Hain, Lorraine Jirovsky, Bernadette Prochaska and Lillian Jirovsky. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Bohumil "Bud"; son, Ronald Jirovsky; brothers, Joseph, Emanuel, Jerry, Hubert, and Cyril Hain; sister, Rose Samek; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alice Hain, Ann Hain, Anton Samek, infant brother Thomas, infant sister MaryAnn, Joseph, Jerome, Charles, Frank and Toni Jirovsky, Stanley and Rose Bartek, Andrew and Lucille Benes, and Joe Prochaska. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers, and memories of life shared with Marie. |
