Marilyn Jean Hemphill was born on August 30, 1947, in Goehner to Theodore Oliver Shaw and Bertha Helen Reierson and passed away on January 9, 2019, in Seward at the age of 71 years, 4 months, and 10 days. Marilyn was raised in the Goehner area where she attended grade school in Goehner and later attended Seward High School. She was a waitress for many years in Weeping Water as well as Seward, where she served at the Corner Cafe.
On December 21, 1978, Marilyn was united in marriage to Gene A. Hemphill in Seward. Marilyn was a homemaker and also did daycare for about five years. She also delivered flowers for the Flower Mill. Marilyn enjoyed playing Bingo, going to horse sales with Gene and looking at Facebook. She loved collecting different items such as purses and lipsticks and also had a love for watching Nascar. Marilyn was part of the CB Club with her brother, Harold, and husband, Gene. She enjoyed doing crafts with her daughters and later at Ridgewood as well. Marilyn loved being in the country and outside as much as she could.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Bertha Shaw; husband, Gene Hemphill; brother, Stanley Shaw; parents-in-law, Dale and Deloris Hemphill.
Survivors cherishing her memory include her daughters, Valerie Pilfold, Lori Pilfold and husband Ahmad, both of Seward; grandchildren, Zach Pilfold and fiancé, Alyssa Worth, Seward, Chelsea and Dustin Kulsziski, Colorado Springs, CO; great-grandson, Ethan Kulsziski; brother, Harold Shaw, Adelanto, CA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of wonderful friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Marilyn.
