Obituary

Marjorie A. Heinz was born on October 23, 1936, in Ulysses to Emil E. and Olga Ann (Shalon) Vachal and passed away suddenly on December 13, 2016, in Lincoln at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 20 days. Marjorie grew up in the Ulysses area and graduated with the class of 1954.

On February 1, 1955, she married Leo B. Heinz at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ulysses. After their marriage the couple lived in Hemingford, NE, where Leo worked with his brother and their first child, Julia was born in Alliance. The couple moved to Grand Island where Leo was a police officer and their second child, Daniel was born. The couple  moved to Kearney where Leo was attending college and working as a campus security guard. While the family was living in Kearney they had three more children, Sharon, Diana and Susan. Leo became a special agent for the IRS and the family moved to various places: Washington D.C., Kansas City, and Lincoln. All the while Marjorie was a stay-at- home mom taking care of the kids and keeping an immaculate home. She loved to bake and for several years she worked at the bakery at Hy-Vee in Lincoln. Marjorie also enjoyed quilting and listening to polka music. After Leo retired they moved to Grand Island  and then moved to Gresham where they made their home for the last 13 years. Marjorie was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step father Joseph Kobza, brother Richard Vachal.

Marjorie is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Leo Heinz, mother of Julia Ryan and husband Steven of Elmwood, NE; Daniel Heinz and wife Natalie of Houston, TX; Sharon Page of Gresham, Diana Otto of Gresham, Susan Wheeldon and husband Irvin Jr., of Murray, NE; grandmother of Zach Ryan, Mandy Petitt, Nate Ryan, Adam Grayson, Bree Mazharian, Danielle Cosgrove, Aaron Holscher, Noah Page, Jake Dimmitt, Tasha Field, Sarah Dimmitt and Kyleigh Bromen, great grandmother of 18, and sister of Ron Vachal of David City.
