IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marjory
Langner
December 13, 1932 – March 5, 2019
Marjory (Cleveland) Langner was born on December 13, 1932, near Stratton, NE to Clyde and Dortha (Sydow) Cleveland. She passed away on March 5, 2019 in Seward, NE at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 20 days.
Marjory grew up in Farragut, IA. Following graduation from Farragut High School, she fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse, training at the Immanuel Deaconess Institute in Omaha. Upon graduation she began her nursing career at the Seward Hospital. On January 29, 1955, Marjory was united in marriage to James Langner in his hometown of Seward. The couple lived briefly in Honolulu where Jim was stationed while in the U.S. Army. Upon his discharge, they returned to Seward, where Jim, a registered pharmacist, became partner/co-owner of Brockhoff Drug Company. Later, Jim and Marjory, with their four young daughters, moved to Alliance, NE, where they purchased Holsten's Drug Store.
While their children were growing up, Marjory was a stay-at-home mom. She worked with Jim, serving as bookkeeper at Holsten's, but she didn't work as a nurse for 20 years. Then in the late 1970s, she put on her uniform and nursing cap once again. She served as charge nurse at two nursing homes in town, St. Joseph and Good Samaritan, until retiring in 1994. Jim and Marjory returned to Seward in 2006. Marjory loved the holidays and made Christmas magical for her family. Many friends and neighbors received her magnificent cookie trays each year. She was happiest when she was baking, walking outside, or traveling to Colorado or the Amana Colonies in Iowa. She was loved by all who met her because of her strength and positive attitude.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim in 2011; son-in-law, Bob Elwell in 2017.
Marjory is survived by her four daughters, Ellen (Keith) Gardiner, Seward; Karen Langner, Ames, IA; Nancy Elwell, Seward; Ann (Cory) Mueller, Seward; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Marjory.
