Mark Alan Johnson was born on May 27, 1962, in Friend, Nebraska to Bernard and Ruth (Sheumaker) Johnson and passed away on December 30, 2025, in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 3 days.
Mark grew up in Friend where he attended and graduated from Friend High School with the class of 1980. He then attended Southeast Community College where he studied Diesel Mechanics. Mark was employed at Walker Manufacturing Co. for years before going to York where he worked at John Deere as a Diesel Tech for six years. Mark was united in marriage on December 27, 1992, to Valerie Bain in South Lake Tahoe, California. He was then employed with Even Temp Inc. in Waco, Nebraska for a short time before his employment at Hughes Brothers Inc. for the past 20 years.
Mark was a loving father and devoted husband; his family always came first. He loved spending time with his wife and children on the farm. Mark enjoyed fishing and reading Western books. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything from cars to plumbing. Mark enjoyed riding motorcycles in his younger years. He was an avid Husker football fan and enjoyed Nascar as well, his favorite driver being Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Mark loved sitting around campfires and having a cold beer.
Mark was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie Johnson in 2013; father, Bernard Johnson; sister, Denise Sebek in 2024 and great-grandson, Julian Boyd Steiner.
Survivors cherishing his memory include his children, Charles Rodgers, Seward, Julie Rodgers, Lincoln, Brandie Johnson, Dorchester, Desirae Garbers, Cleveland, OH, Chris Dunning, Lincoln, Nick Dunning, Seward and Michael Johnson, Seward; 19 grandchildren; mother, Ruth Steinke, Des Moines, IA; sister, Darlene McElwee, St. Louis, MO and numerous family and friends.
