Martha Elizabeth (Vogeltanz) Dowding was born February 17, 1923 on a farm near Bee, Nebraska to Thomas and Jennie (Hain) Vogeltanz and passed away on October 28, 2006 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 83 years, 8 months, 11 days. Martha was a 1940 graduate of Dwight Assumption High School. On September 23, 1946, Martha was united in marriage to Robert Louis Dowding at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church in Seward. To this union two children were born, Joe and Judy. Martha was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church and Altar Society in Seward. Martha was proud to be a co-author with Julie Liska of the book "Martha-A Country Girl". She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Jennie Vogeltanz; her brother, Lad Vogeltanz; her sisters, Agnes Vogeltanz, Marie Codr, Frances Pesek, Caroline Semin and their spouses. Martha is survived by her husband, Bob Dowding, Seward; her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Kathy Dowding, Seward; her daughter, Judy DeRuvo, Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Aaron DeRuvo, Ariel DeRuvo, and Sophia DeRuvo; other relatives and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Martha. |
