Martha Augusta Gould was born on November 23, 1914 in Valley Stream, New York to Ernst F. and Jeanne (DeLatre) Tempel and passed away at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, Kansas on Friday, February 5, 2010 at the age of 95 years. Martha lived with the Tempel Family in the Goehner, Nebraska area, where she was confirmed and graduated from Goehner High School in 1932. Martha attended nurse's training at Marshalltown, Iowa and was a graduate of the University of Minnesota. On December 30, 1966 she married Dr. Franklin L. Gould; he preceded her in death in 1977. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Topeka. Martha was a nurse for the Veteran's Administration in Cheyenne, Wyoming and San Diego, California. She was a missionary nurse for the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, Africa and a veteran of WW II serving as 1st LT. Nurse in France and Germany. She is survived by her stepchildren, Cheryl Smith of Grand Rapids, MI; Frank Gould of New Britain, CT; Ellen Fawcett of Kansas City, MO; and John Gould of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Franklin L. Gould; her parents, Ernst F. and Jeanne Tempel; a brother, Ernest Tempel of Southold, NY and a sister, Charlotte McLaughlin of Beatrice, NE. |
