Martin Helman was born on November 3, 1966, in David City, Nebraska to Joseph and Rita (Yindrick) Helman and passed away on April 22, 2026, in David City, Nebraska at the age of 59 years, 5 months and 19 days.
Marty grew up in Brainard and attended East Butler High School, graduating with the Class of 1985. On August 19, 1989, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Janene Hotovy, at Assumption Catholic Church. Their marriage was blessed with three daughters, Donnita, Morgan and Madison. Marty dedicated more than 40+ years of service to Frontier Co-op. He found great joy in being a girl dad and supporting his girls in their various activities. Later in life, Marty joyfully embraced the role of grandpa to Lenny, which brought him immense happiness. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing and being in his yard. He always looked forward to his annual fishing trip to Minnesota. Marty valued friendships built around drinks, laughter and good conversations. Above all, Marty was an example in living his Catholic faith for his family, his many friends, and even for people who didn’t know him, mainly because he was so genuine in truly wanting to help in any way he could.
Marty was heavily involved in the community. He was a dedicated member of the Dwight Volunteer Fire Department, Sons of the American Legion Post #110 and Assumption Catholic Church.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rita Helman; parents-in-law, Leonard and Donna Hotovy; nieces, Melissa Helman and Isabelle Rigatuso; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
