Mary Ann Kruse was born on August 11, 1924, rural Leigh, Colfax Co. Nebraska to Ernest Johann Deichmann and Wilma Katherine Dobes and passed away in Lincoln on December 25, 2018 at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 14 days. She was baptized on November 30, 1924 and confirmed on June 27, 1937, at St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Leigh. She attended rural public schools in Colfax Co. and graduated from Schuyler High School with the Class of 1941. She graduated from Concordia Teacher College (now Concordia University) and graduate studies at UNL.
On May 15, 1944 at St. John Lutheran Church, Seward, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Milton Henry Kruse. Their marriage was blessed with one daughter, Joan Elizabeth Kruse Rogers.
Mary Ann was an educator for 40 years. She taught rural schools in Colfax Co., Seward Co., East Butler, Dwight and Dwight Assumption. Later Mary Ann established the first licensed rural Early Childhood certified preschool in Seward County. During her retirement years she continued to tutor elementary pupils and Concordia foreign students.
Mary Ann's main interests were serving and participating in church related activities, nursery roll, Sunday school teacher, Summer Bible School, weekly Bible class and various projects. She was an original member of the St. John Young Women's League (now St. John LWL-LWML) and a 50 year member of Delta Kappa Gamma-Upsilon Chapter, Rho State NE. She was also on several civic and county boards in the Seward community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milton; brothers, LaVern and Franklin Deichmann.
Survivors include her daughter, Joan Elizabeth and son-in-law, J. Hugh Rogers, Seattle, WA; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Mary Ann.
