Mary Ann (Rotherham) Sandman was born December 11, 1930 in Newboro, Nebraska to William Claude and Agnes (Bauer) Rotherham and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on March 5, 2007, at the age of 76 years, 2 months, 25 days. Mary Ann was the 8th of 13 children; she attended St. John the Baptist School in Petersburg, Nebraska. On September 20, 1949, Mary Ann was united in marriage to Stanley J. Sandman at St. Edward, Nebraska. To this union six children were born: Jeanne, Jerome, Donald, Kathleen, Beverly and Raymond. Mary Ann worked at various waitress positions, at the Majestic Theatre in Hebron; and Dale's Electronics in York and Columbus, from where she retired.

Stan and Mary Ann lived in Petersburg, Randolph, Utica, Hebron, Columbus and Waco before returning to Utica in 1998. Stanley passed away August 6, 1999, just two months prior to their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Mary Ann moved to the Greene House in Seward in July of 2005 when her health began failing ; a month later she moved to the Anna Sundermann Alzheimer's Unit in Seward. Mary Ann was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Altar Society in Utica and American Legion Auxiliary in Hebron.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; her parents, William and Agnes Rotherham; two sisters, Kathleen Rotherham and Delores Gragert; three brothers, Donald, Omer and Lloyd Rotherham.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Jeanne and Gary Schrader of Littleton, CO, Jerome Sandman of Hebron, Don and Becky Sandman of Utica, Kay and Vince Hoefler of Lincoln, Bev and Ken Johnson of Woodbury, MN, and Ray and Karen Christian Sandman of Mesa, AZ.

Other survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Claire Rotherham of Hot Springs, SD, Max and Bonnie Rotherham of Eureka, CA, Maurice and Eileen Rotherham of Madison, Bill and Celeste Rotherham of Dothan, AL; sisters and brother-in-law, Loretta and Carl Meier of Grand Island, Virginia Baker of Fontana, CA, Henrietta Willman of Omaha; brother-in-law, Loran Sandman of Columbus; sisters-in-law and spouse, Delores and Sonny Marker of Platte Center and Rita Sandman of Newman Grove; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
