Matthew Gene Smith was born on September 17, 1981, to Gene and DeAnna (Lafrenz) Smith and passed away on July 1, 2016, in North Bend, NE; at the age of 34 years, 9 months and 14 days. Matthew lived most of his life in Seward. He also lived in Lincoln for 13 years in various group homes for Region V and DSN. Matthew graduated from Seward High School.
Matthew had a variety of interests over the years. He enjoyed bowling in the Special Olympics. He was an avid fan of the Dukes of Hazzard, Dallas, and The Golden Girls. He loved DVDs, fishing and anything that came off of the BBQ grill. He liked to sit and drink O'Doul's while his dad was grilling. One of his happiest moments was when he was able to go to Nashville and meet the cast of the Dukes of Hazzard.
He loved his family more than anything else and spending time with family was important to him. He got great pleasure in teasing his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his mother, DeAnna and husband Gary Boltz, his father, Gene Smith (Joan Smith), sister Jaime Warner, brother Randy Smith, nieces, Hailee Forman and Alexis Smith, nephews Joseph and Thomas Forman and a host of friends and relatives.
Matthew was preceded in death by his brother, Adam Smith, grandparents, John and Sarah Smith, Richard and Donna Lafrenz, uncle Richard Lafrenz and aunt Connie Kage.
