Melvina Lilly (Morgan) Smith was born February 2, 1918 in Prairie Home, Nebraska to Ira E. and Grace (Cleveland) Morgan and passed away on November 21, 2006 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 9 months, 19 days. Melvina was raised with 12 brothers and sisters. She attended school in Lincoln, Nebraska. On August 16, 1934, Melvina was united in marriage to Donald F. Smith in Seward, Nebraska. This marriage was blessed with three children, Bonnie, Norene and Donald. Melvina and Donald lived in Omaha for many years, moved to Texas for a few years and in 1980, they made their home in Ulysses, Nebraska. Melvina was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Grace Morgan; her husbnd, Donald F. Smith; her son, Donald E. Smith and her 12 brothers and sisters, Harold Morgan, Mabel Spargo, Hazel Morgan, Gladys Buettenbaugh, Pearl Farber, Alice Hrdlicka, Ira Morgan, Henry Morgan, Berniece Zimmerman, her twin brother Melvin Morgan who died in infancy; her two stepsisters, Eva Morgan and Mary Morgan. Melvina is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Bonnie and Mel Hemenez, Hayward, CA and Norene Graham, Ulysses; her daughter-in-law, Linda Smith, Ulysses; eight grandchildren, Walt Hallberg, Roger Hallberg, Scott Hallberg, Debra Crawford, Marty Weber, Jeff Smith, Greg Smith, Nicole Smith; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Melvina. |
