Merna Amanda Moravec was born March 2, 1926 to John and Amanda (Krueger) Richert of rural Gresham, Nebraska. She attended Immanuel Lutheran School in Gresham and Utica High School, graduating in 1944. Merna passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 9 months, 6 days.
Merna worked for the Triple A and later in the Seward County Clerk's office. On June 27, 1954, she was united in marriage to Adrian "Deuce" Moravec at Immanuel Lutheran Church. During their 51 years of married life they lived in Shickley, Fremont and Seward and together they raised four children, Jon, Pamela, Tim and Chris. After the children were grown, Merna returned to work in the St. John Lutheran School cafeteria. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, LWML, Ladies Aid, VFW Auxiliary and the neighborhood Extension Club. She was a wonderful cook, an avid gardener, outstanding homemaker, a loving wife and mother, a friend to many and a devoted Christian.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adrian "Deuce" Moravec, in 2005; brother, Alfred Richert; sisters, Evelyn Luebbe, Ruth Richert and Helen Barron; brothers-in-law, Walter Luebbe, Maurice "Moe" Moravec, Charles Rist, and John Zimmer III; sisters-in-law, Beatrice "Bea" Rist and Rosemarie "Rosie" Zimmer and daughter-in-law, Jill Moravec.
Survivors include her children Jon Moravec, Muscatine, IA, Pam and Rick Pape, Lincoln, Tim and Lori Moravec, Seward, Chris and Carol Moravec, Lincoln; grandchildren, Adrian and Emilie Moravec, Minneapolis, Joshua and Yukari Moravec, Omaha, Micah Moravec, Seward, Vincent Moravec and Nerissa Moravec, Lincoln; Aaron Moravec and Julia Moravec, Muscatine; step grandson, Paul and Amy Pape, Phoenix; great-grandson, Boden Moravec; sisters-in-law, Verna Richert, Utica and Mary Vinzant, LaVista; and many dear nieces, nephews and their families and a host of friends.
