Mildred Evelyn (Vogt) Hentzen was born on a Seward County farm on July 15, 1917 to Robert and Emily (Hohn) Vogt and passed away on January 23, 2006, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 6 months, 8 days. She graduated from Milford High School and attended Nebraska Wesleyan University. On October 6, 1937, Millie was united in marriage to Walter Hentzen in Eudora, Kansas. Their union was blessed with five children, Ruth, Margaret, Alice, Dennis and Jane. Millie was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She served as an active participant and leader in numerous community organizations including the Grange, 4-H, 3-J Extension Club and Country Womens Club. She treasured her fellowship with Friedens United Church of Christ and provided leadership at local, state and national levels. She was an ardent supporter of her childrens school activities and proudly attended graduations and awards ceremonies. Her children and her childrens children were the light of her life. Millie volunteered to raise funds for the local library and hospital and numerous other causes. Her many hobbies included music, travel, reading, water exercise, watching sporting events and playing bridge. Millie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Emily Vogt; her husband, Walter Hentzen on January 23, 1987; five siblings, Elsa Odom, Lillian Eberspacher, Robert Vogt, Theodore Vogt and Viola Christensen and many dear friends. Millie is survived by her children and spouses, Ruth Neil, Denver, CO, Margaret Clark, Denver, CO, Alice and John Lorenz, Flushing, MI, Dennis and Bonnie Hentzen, Seward, Jane Hentzen and Garner Stoll, Parker, CO; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends, including special friend, Chapin Hand, Seward. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Millie. |
