Miriam Jean (Jones) Bender went home to the Lord on December 27, 2009 at the age of 74 years, 1 month, and 30 days. She was born on October 28, 1935 in York, Nebraska to Benjamin Earl and Maybelle June (Stream) Jones. Jeanne attended York High School and Seward High School. On April 25, 1952 Jeanne was united in marriage to Marlin Ewalt "Herm" Bender in Bradshaw, Nebraska. Herm and Jeanne lived in Seward for 8 years before moving to Omaha. They lived in Omaha for 32 years and returned to Seward and the farm in 1992. Throughout her life Jeanne enjoyed going to the Casino, playing cards, bowling, fishing, camping and many other outdoor activities. She was an avid reader and crossword puzzle solver. Jeanne worked for many years at the VA Hospital in Omaha as an LPN. Upon moving to Seward she worked for Tabitha Health Care and Hospice Care and attended Friedens United Church of Christ. Jeanne loved to host holiday parties and hunters at her house, but her favorite was the annual Bender Family Hayrack Ride and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents. Jeanne is loved and survived by her husband of 57 years, Marlin Bender, Seward; her four children and their spouses, Nicole June and Ed Crnic, Thomas Earl and Diane Bender, Lydia Kaye and Ray Dengel and Georgene Lea and Dave Dudley, all of Omaha; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, dear cousins and countless friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Jeanne. |
