Mona Leota Hall was born on November 16, 1940, in Crete, NE, to Lincoln Vryle and Leota Maude (Young) Monia and passed away on November 8, 2018, in Lincoln at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 23 days.
Mona grew up in Lincoln where she graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School with the Class of 1958. She was united in marriage to Robert Sturm in Lincoln on February 14, 1960. Their daughter, Diane, was born in June of 1961. The couple then moved to K.I. Sawyer Air Base in Michigan where Robert was stationed. Their son Brian was then born in January of 1965. The couple was transferred to Minot, ND, where she raised her family. Mona later graduated from Minot State College and received a degree in education. After Mona and Bob divorced in 1976, Mona began teaching school at Gackle Public School. Mona later married Charlie Hall in 1977 and they lived in Jamestown, ND, until 1980 when the couple moved to Lincoln. She worked at UNL for several years before moving to Omaha and working at Epsen Hillmer Graphics Company. Mona later returned to Lincoln where she worked at the Nebraska State Supreme Court for five years. She then returned to UNL where she retired in 2013. Mona enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting. In her retirement the thing that brought her the most joy was teaching English as a second language during her evening adult classes in Lincoln.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vryle and Leota Monia.
Mona is survived by her children, Diane Conyers, Crete, NE and Brian Sturm, Minot, ND; three grandchildren, Dana Conyers and wife Alyssa and their son, Rocket, Norfolk, NE, Colby Conyers, Tucson, AZ, and Ciera Conyers, Crete, NE; two sisters, Lola Epperson, Wichita, KS, and Vryla Jackson, Niles, MI; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Mona.
