Morris William Pirrie, Jr. was born July 24, 1929 at Schuyler, Nebraska to Morris William, Sr. and Sarah Etta (French) Pirrie and passed away on January 26, 2011 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 81 years, 6 months, 2 days. Morris was baptized on April 20, 1930 at the Methodist Church in Schuyler. His parents moved to Ovid, Colorado when he was an infant. Morris was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Julesburg, Colorado on January 27, 1952 by Rev. Arthur Popp. He graduated from Sedgwick County High School at Ovid in 1947. On December 30, 1951, Morris was united in marriage to Elsie Pauline Marquardt at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Julesburg, Colorado. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Janell Marie and Dean Alan. They moved to Utica in 1955 and Morris worked for Volzke Drilling, Bereuter's and the Utica Cooperative until his retirement. Morris was a former member of the Utica Volunteer Fire Department. He served in many leadership roles as a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Utica.
Morris is preceded in death by his parents, Morris W. Sr. and Sarah Pirrie and a nephew, Dan Sowder.
Morris is survived by his wife, Elsie Pirrie of Utica; daughter and son-in-law, Janell and Ron Uffelman of Waco; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Marilyn Pirrie of Julesburg, CO; five grandchildren, Ceri and husband Jim Jeffers, Ashley Pirrie, Brent and wife Jennifer Uffelman, Kristen and husband Rev. Bert Mueller and Jacquelyn Uffelman; seven great-grandchildren, Michael Jeffers, Vickie Jeffers, Allison Uffelman, Carly Uffelman and Conner Uffelman, Naomi Mueller and Micah Mueller; sister and brother-in-law, LaVay and Don Weinmeister, Windsor, CO; two nephews, Robert and David Sowder; and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Morris.
