Mary Myrdith Goldsmith was born January 9, 1903 at Depau, Indiana to Rev. Edward L. and Emma Rebecca (Shuck) Watson and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on November 22, 2005 at the age of 102 years, 10 months, 13 days. She was a graduate of Utica High School and attended York College for one year. She taught school in Seward County. On August 27, 1922, Myrdith was united in marriage to Mervin Charles Goldsmith. This marriage was blessed with six children. After their marriage they farmed until 1935 at which time they moved to Seward. Myrdith was the co-owner and Administrator of the Goldsmith Home for more than 23 years, retiring in 1973. Myrdith served as Hospitality Lady for the City of Seward for four years. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women, Church Women United, the sewing group and Royal Neighbors.

Myrdith was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Edward and Emma Watson; her husband, Mervin Goldsmith in 1983; her sons, Charles Lee Goldsmith and Mervin Dean Goldsmith; her daughters, Geraldine Eudece Rollins and Connie Marie Cooley; grandsons, Michael Tyrrell and Mark Rollins; granddaughter, Lisa Goldsmith; two sons-in-law, Wayne Menze and Neil Tyrrell; three brothers and two sisters.

Myrdith is survived by her daughters, Polly Tyrrell, Flagstaff, AZ and Betty Menze, Seward; her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Dixie Goldsmith, Seward; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends.
