Myrna Zillig was born on the family farm near Pleasant Dale on February 3, 1922. She was the youngest child of two born to August and Dorothy (Lostroh) Sieck. She graduated from Pleasant Dale High School as salutatorian. On March 1, 1942, she married Mervin W. Zillig of Seward, Nebraska. Myrna and Mervin have five children, twelve grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was married to Mervin for 66 years and was a proud farm wife. Between 1942 and 1986, Myrna helped Mervin with farming. She stayed on the Zillig homestead near Garland until 2012, a place that was very dear to her heart. With her large garden and five children she kept very busy. Myrna was an active member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Seward and was active in the Grange and the Seward 4th of July celebration. Through the years she helped with many social activities, including teaching Sunday School and 4-H. In retirement, Myrna and Mervin traveled frequently, especially to the homes of their children and grandchildren. While on the farm and up until her death, Myrna loved to play cards with neighbors and family. Myrna was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and neighbor. Myrna passed away on September 21, 2014 in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 7 months, 18 days. Myrna was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin in 2008; her parents, August and Dorothy (Lostroh) Sieck; and her brother, Harold Sieck and his wife, Elsie. Myrna is survived by her children; her daughter, Patricia and husband Lou Lamberty, Omaha; her daughter, Nancy and husband Lou Waltman, Lincoln; her son, William and wife Carol, Lincoln; her son Larry, and wife Linda, Lincoln; and her daughter, Susan and husband Michael Mathias, Wausau, WI; as well as her twelve grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
