Myrtle Ruby Lee (Karcher) Hingst, 93, of Seward, Nebraska, formerly of Vernon, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 in Lincoln, Nebraska..
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Vernon, Texas. Rev. Paul Neuberger, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Wilbarger Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Zabka Funeral Home in Seward, Nebraska.
Myrtle was born in Vernon, Texas on August 27, 1923. She graduated from Vernon High School and continued on to Business school after graduation.
Myrtle was married to Lawrence Hingst on June 9, 1946; they were married 41 years. Lawrence preceded her in death in 1987.
Myrtle worked at Sears and Roebuck and later as a teller for Herring National Bank for many years. She was an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed sewing and baking. She was well known in Vernon as "the cinnamon roll lady". She was also actively involved in her home church, St Paul Lutheran.
Myrtle is survived by two daughters and their spouses Cynthia and Tom Hadley of Wichita Falls, Texas and Susan and Larry Biel, of Seward, Nebraska, five grandchildren and spouses, Jennifer and Mark Hotopp of Garland, Texas, Josh Hadley and Jessica of Dallas, Texas, Jessica and Kurth Brashear of Seward, Nebraska, Jacob and Lauren Biel of Omaha, Nebraska and Nathan and Beth Biel of Lincoln, Nebraska, nine great grandchildren, Noah, Silas, Elise, Josiah and Ian Hotopp of Garland, Lily, Nolan and Grant Brashear of Seward, Nebraska, and Nora Biel of Omaha, Nebraska. Also survived by three sisters, Dorothy Schoppa, Jeanelle Hintze, and Ruth Mueller and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her parents, Ernest and Olivia Karcher and two sisters Carolyn Blochberger and Bernice Karcher.
