Nelda M. Stuchlik was born October 10, 1915 in Seward, Nebraska to Werner and Frieda (Heumann) Meyer and passed away in Alton, Illinois on November 17, 2006 at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 7 days. After earning a degree in education, she served as an educator in public schools in Nebraska. Nelda married Cyril M. Stuchlik on June 10, 1940. Following their marriage and relocation to Alton, she served as a substitute teacher in Alton School District # 11. Cyril preceded her in death on September 21, 1974. She was a long-time member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey, and the Alton Civic Orchestra Guild and the Alton Area Landmarks Association. Nelda was known for her cooking and enjoyed sewing in her spare time. Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, Werner and Frieda (Heumann) Meyer, her husband Cyril Stuchlik, sister, Alta Zillig and brother, Kermit Meyer. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Tom and Kathy Stuchlik of St. Louis, Missouri, Terry Stuchlik of Alton, Illinois, grandchildren, Eric, Laurie, and Patrick Stuchlik, her brother and sister-in-law, Yale and LaVera Meyer of Nelson, Nebraska, sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Paul Perrin of Irving, Texas, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
