Obituary
Norman met Lucille Miers at the Anderson Roller Rink in the back of the Seward Park in 1947. They were married on May 9, 1948, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Seward. They made their home west of Goehner while Norman continued to work as a mechanic and farmed 80 acres belonging to his grandfather, Charles Henry Peterson. They moved into Beaver Crossing in March, 1949, where their son Marvin Gail was born September 24, 1949. In March, 1950, the Cross family moved to their farmstead, south of Beaver Crossing, to begin full time farming and raising fat cattle and a cow calf herd. On October 29, 1951 they welcomed Carolyn Kay to the family and on July 27, 1955, Kenneth Lee arrived. Norman served many years on the Beaver Crossing Coop Elevator Board and later served when the Coop merged with Tamora-Staplehurst-Beaver Elevator Board. Norman also served on the Administrative Council and Trustees for many years at the Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church, of which they are long time members.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Agnes Cross, sister and brother-in-law Geraldine and Clarence Sonday, and father and mother-in-law Leonard and Hazel Miers.
Norman is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lucille of Seward; son Marvin Cross and wife Cynthia of Westerville, OH; and their children and grandchildren, Matthew Cross (45), Douglas Cross (38) and wife Amy, Cameron (5), and Logan and Tyler (2), daughter Carolyn Dorn and husband Gene of Bellevue, NE; and their children Greg Dorn (40), Tara (34) Dorn and husband Donald Bebber of Tucson, AZ; son, Kenneth Cross and wife Carla of Friend, NE; and their children and grandchildren, Charisse Barnes (34) and husband Dwaine of Surprise, AZ; Devyn (3), Shannon Lauber (30) and husband Patrick of McKinney, TX; and Tatum (3 months), Shawn Cross (30) and wife Erin of Friend, NE; Katie Love (34) and husband Collins of Omaha, NE; Aiden and Gavin (4), Mackenzie (1), and Phillip Moon (23) of Omaha, a brother Donald Cross and wife Anne of Lenexa, KS.
