Ocee L. Otte was born on December 1, 1917, in Charleston, NE; to John A. and Mary (Steingard) Friesen and passed away on February 5, 2015, in Seward at the age of 97 years, 2 months and 4 days. Ocee grew up in the Charleston and Bradshaw area where she attended and graduated from Bradshaw High School in the class of 1937. Ocee was united in marriage to Ernest Carl Otte on July 27, 1938, at the United Methodist Parsonage in Bradshaw. The couple lived in York for several years before moving to Seward in 1941. She was a homemaker until her son Dennis was five years old, when she began working at Geesens Cleaners. Ocee then worked at Koltermans Five and Dime store for 18 years, she then became a state licensed Administrator for Sundermann Nursing Home in Seward. She began working at Protective Fire and Casualty Insurance Company and later worked at Hughes Brothers for 10 years. In 1986, she began working at Wal-Mart as a sales associate for 10 years, retiring in 1996. Ocee and Ernest along with their son Dennis and his wife Sue remodeled countless homes in the Seward area after work and on the weekends. Ocee was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, a long time union member of I.A.M & A.W, where she held the office of Secretary and Treasurer. Ocee loved to shop with family and friends. She always made it a point to look her best whether she was going to work or church. Family was very important to Ocee, she loved each and everyone in a very special way. Ocee is survived by her son; Dennis and wife Sue of Seward, daughter-in-law; Val Otte of Seward, six grandchildren, Jackie McGee Hottovy, Paul Otte, Greg Otte, Kris Queen, Jeff Otte and Andi Hallberg; 19 great grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Hank and Bonnie Otte. She was preceded in death by her parents, John A. and Mary (Steingard) Friesen; husband, Ernest on November 28, 2006, son Dwayne on March 5, 2010, and siblings, Arnold Friesen, Bud Friesen, Norman Friesen, Tina Radcliff, Pearle Radcliff, Rosella DeBoer and Glendale Friesen.
