Olga Anna (Shalon) Kobza was born October 8, 1911 in to Joseph and Mary Anna (Simanek) Shalon and passed away on March 5, 2008 in David City, Nebraska at the age of 96 years, 4 months, 28 days. Olga attended country school two miles west of the five mile line. She was united in marriage to Emil E. Vachal and their union was blessed with three children, Richard, Marge, and Ron. Emil passed away in 1974. Olga was united in marriage to Joseph J. Kobza on September 27, 1988 and they resided in Ulysses all of their married life; Joseph passed away in 1999. Olga was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Altar Society in Ulysses. She was a volunteer and delivered meals for Meals on Wheels. Olga was employed with B & D in Columbus and as a cook at the Ulysses Public School and also cleaned houses in the Ulysses area for several families. Olga was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Anna Shalon; her husbands, Emil E. Vachal and Joseph J. Kobza; her son, Richard Vachal and brother, Nick Shalon. Olga is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marge and Leo Heinz of Gresham; her son, Ron Vachal of Lincoln; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; step-children, Bernard C. and Dorothy Kobza of Seward, Joseph B. and Rita Kobza of Schuyler, Robert E. and Jane Kobza of Columbus, MaryEllen and Arthur S. Dobesh of Seward; 17 step-grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Olga. |
