In Loving Memory of Ollie L. Briggs Ollie Louise Briggs was born February 13, 1907 in Seward, Nebraska to Ross and Nellie (Anderson) Buckmaster and passed away in Seward, Nebraska on February 6, 2009, at the age of 101 years, 11 months, 21 days. Ollie was raised in Seward and during her school years worked at Rigdons Flower Shop. After graduating from Seward High School in 1925, she enrolled in Mohler Beauty School in Omaha for 5 months of training. She began working as a hair dresser at Champs Beauty Shop in Lincoln and then as manager of the shop; she was the manager of a branch beauty shop in Sioux City, Iowa and held that position for several months and then requested a transfer back to Lincoln where she was again the manager. Rex and Ollie were married in 1932. Three children followed in the next few years and her role of a farmers wife was busy. Ollie was active in the United Methodist Church, Womens Society, and chairman of the Music Committee. She also served on many committees associated with high school activities of her children. In the 1960s and 1970s Ollie traveled with Rex and enjoyed the friends and acquaintances they made at the cattle auctions. They celebrated 58 years of marriage prior to Rexs death in 1990. Over the years Ollie enjoyed her friends associated with Country Womens Club, Methodist Womens Society and the Coffee Club. Ollie was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Briggs; her parents, Ross and Nellie Buckmaster; brother, Theodore Buckmaster; and great-grandson, Andrew Patterson. Ollie is survived by her children and spouses, Bob and Susan Briggs, Beth Griffin, Bill and Carole Briggs, all of Seward; 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of life shared with Ollie. |
