Opal Elaine Hagemoser was born on April 9, 1927, in Sutton, Nebraska to Benjamin and Wilhelmia (Joksch) Bachmann and passed away on August 10, 2021, in Seward, Nebraska at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 1 day.
Elaine was raised in Emmet, Nebraska and attended school as a young child in O'Neill. After the passing of her mother she moved to Omaha. She graduated from Benson High School with the Class of 1944. After high school Elaine worked as a bookkeeper at Benson Furniture. She was united in marriage to Dean Burge on February 15, 1946, in Omaha, Nebraska. After their marriage they moved to Hunters Point, CA while Dean was in the Navy. They moved back to O'Neill after Dean was discharged and lived there for some time before returning to Omaha. Elaine worked at a Nebraska Children's Home Society in Omaha before going to work at a financial company. The last 12 years she worked at U.S. Bank. After the passing of Dean in 1982, she met Don Hagemoser and they were united in marriage on September 10, 1983, in Omaha, Nebraska. She was a foster parent prior to their adoption. Elaine taught Sunday school, was the President of Rainbow Club and leader of Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls, all in Omaha.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Wilhelmia Bachmann; stepmother, Lucille Berg-Bachmann; husbands, Dean Burge and Don Hagemoser; daughter, Beth Bliss; sister, Wilma Crane; step-siblings, Ben and wife, Betty Berg, Edward Berg, Eugene Berg, Betty Eldridge, Mary Lou Sheppard; sister-in-law, Rita Bachmann; two sons-in-law, Larry McIntosh, Steve Carr.
Elaine is survived by her children, Gary Dean and wife, Julie Burge, Lawson, MO, Candy McIntosh, Lincoln, Mark Burge and wife, Candy, Lincoln, Kelly Stahly and husband, Michael, Lincoln, Denny Carr, Seward, J. Don "Corky" and wife, Lori Hagemoser, Lincoln; son-in-law, Barry Bliss, Grants Pass, OR; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; brother, Orvil Bachmann; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. To this obituary we add our thoughts, prayers and memories of a life shared with Opal Elaine.
